Instructions for Creating and Editing Blog Posts

I’ve posted a video with instructions for uploading images and editing blog posts:

Video: Creating Blog Posts

(Note: To create a new post, start by selecting +New on the menu at the top of the blog and drop down to select Post.)

Video: Photographing Your Art Work

Preparing your images for upload:
• use jpg images with correct orientation and try to keep resolution at maximum dimensions between 1000-2000 pixels (large images over 4000 pixels posted directly from your phone may take a long time to upload and often can’t be selected from your media library. Please remember to optimize your images for easier uploading and viewing.)

If you’re not sure of your file’s image size, you can click on the file and use Get Info (Command-I on Mac or Finder>File Get Info). The pixel dimensions can be found under the More Info dropdown menu.

Note: For Illustrator vector images, please post a screenshot (PNG) or use the Export menu in Illustrator to save the file as a PNG or JPG.

• use a standard prefix so they’ll be grouped together in the media library for easier location. (Ex. Jason’s photo)

• have your files in a folder on the desktop so you can drag and drop them into your gallery

Setting up an Image gallery:
• when creating a block for images, use the gallery uploads instead of singular image posts

• reorder image appearance in the gallery if needed

• select number of columns ( 2 or more is preferred)

• choose crop/do not crop for the thumbnail images

• make sure to link to> media file so that images can be enlarged from thumbnail view

• title your thumbnails in the gallery for easier identification and feedback

Document settings:

• select appropriate categories (ie your name & assignment name) for easier viewing in main menu

• choose a featured image from your media library to display on the main blog screen
