This 2D picture caught my eyes not only because of the intricate detailing, but also the important message behind the piece. One reason why art is so prominent in the world is because of the ability it has to evoke certain feelings or emotions. The dim color scheme creates a dreary atmosphere suggesting a dystopian setting. Paint brushes are made to look like plants/trees while a computer mouse is a replacement for machinery. A buzz saw is connected to the mouse, and the man holding it appears to be cutting down a paint brush (tree).
It is evident that this image is implying the internet is taking away creativity. The paintbrushes represent handmade art while the mouse represents the internet. The fact that the mouse (internet) is fueling the buzz saw that cuts down tree shows the connection. Combined with the bland color scheme, there is a clear message that the internet is killing handmade art which is a bad thing. Making this piece correlate with a man cutting down a tree in the forest helped me get the message. After viewing this artwork I feel that I have a new perspective on the internet’s impact on art.
