Here are a few versions I attempted. I’m not the best photographer, so I struggled a little getting good source photos. Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Your featured image is the strongest of the three and has good color and contrast. I suggest rotating it counter-clockwise so the darkest values anchor the bottom of the composition.
The other two are a bit muddy, but perhaps you can up the contrast. And try to use blending modes rather than opacity to keep the images crisp.
I’m intrigued by the new ones. Still could use a bit more contrast. I’ll demonstrate some options when we meet today.
For me the strongest one is the edited third attempt. You did a great job of adding texture to the rose and making it look like it’s made out of fabric or denim. The color choices remind me of a comic book, which goes along with the grainy effect on the piece.
